VIA Outlets acquires The Outlet Stores Alicante, strengthening its footprint in the Iberian market
Alicante, 29 January 2026 – VIA Outlets, owner-operator of the world’s most sustainable* fashion outlet centres, has acquired The Outlet Stores Alicante, an established centre in the southeast of Spain serving the broader Costa Blanca region, from previous owner UBS Asset Management. The asset transaction further strengthens VIA Outlets’ presence in the Spanish outlet market adding a third centre to the portfolio alongside its Mallorca Fashion Outlet and Sevilla Fashion Outlet locations and creates significant economies of scale in terms of centre operations and the offer to brand partnerships.
The acquisition aligns with VIA Outlets’ growth strategy to expand and elevate its portfolio in the dynamic Iberia retail markets and other key European countries. It is the company’s second major investment deal in 2026, following last week’s acquisition of Scala Milano Outlet & More, which marked VIA Outlets’ entry into the Italian market. The two acquisitions combined bring the company’s total gross lettable area (GLA) to 361,000 sqm, encompassing close to 1,500 stores, with more than 44 million annual visitors, positioning VIA Outlets among Europe’s leading outlet operators.
The Outlet Stores Alicante first opened in 2004 and offers 36,000 sqm of gross lettable area (GLA). The centre is located in San Vicente del Raspeig, adjacent to the University of Alicante and is home to more than 50 fashion and sport brands including Adidas, Bimba Y Lola, Guess, Geox, Levi’s, Nike and Scalpers, as well as 22 restaurants and leisure activities such as a cinema and bowling alley.
Otto Ambagtsheer, CEO of VIA Outlets said: “The acquisition of The Outlet Stores Alicante is an important step in VIA Outlets’ inorganic growth strategy that builds on our successful track record in Spain with our two other centres: Mallorca Fashion Outlet and Sevilla Fashion Outlet. We see strong potential in Alicante to enhance the brand mix, refresh the overall guest experience, and deepen partnerships with local stakeholders. By applying our proven 3R strategy of remerchandising, remodelling, and remarketing, we will create an even more compelling destination for guests and brand partners.”
The Outlet Stores Alicante attracted over 6.8 million visitors in 2025 with its prime location near the city’s ring road providing excellent accessibility for both local residents and the wider Costa Blanca international tourism market. The centre is within 18 minutes drive of Alicante–Elche Miguel Hernández Airport, which handled more than 18 million passengers in 2024.
David Kervyn de Lettenhove, Regional Business Director Iberia of VIA Outlets added: “We look forward to collaborating with the city and our brand partners to strengthen Alicante’s role as a shopping and leisure hub for residents, students, and the millions of international visitors who come to the Costa Blanca throughout the year.”
