Cannes, 2 November 2026 — VIA Outlets, the world's most sustainable* owner-operator of 13 premium fashion outlet centres in Europe, has locked-in a 30% year-on-year increase in the total gross lettable area (GLA) of its portfolio in 2026 with two acquisitions one in Spain and one in Italy, as well as the opening of a 22% GLA extension in Landquart Fashion Outlet, Switzerland. That dynamic growth trajectory is now set to extend further into next year with the recent approval of a major expansion at Zweibrücken Fashion Outlet in Germany.
VIA Outlets’ total GLA reached 370,000 sqm across 13 fashion outlet centres after it acquired Scalo Milano Outlet & More and The Outlet Stores Alicante, entering Italy and strengthening its position in Iberia. Both centres have been successfully integrated into the portfolio, and their remodelling and elevation plans are now moving into the next phase.
Final planning approval for the expansion of Zweibrücken Fashion Outlet in Germany, in the tri-border area near France and Luxembourg, marks the next milestone in VIA Outlets’ organic growth strategy. The project will add 7,450 sqm of GLA, taking the centre to approximately 38,920 sqm and creating space for more premium and international brands while broadening its appeal to guests from Germany and neighbouring countries.
VIA Outlets also continues to unlock value through remerchandising, with over 300 leasing transactions completed across its existing portfolio and over 80 new brands joining its European portfolio year-to-date. In April, it opened the expansion of Landquart Fashion Outlet in Switzerland, adding more than 4,800 sqm of retail space, following the 6,500 sqm expansion of Vila do Conde Porto Fashion Outlet in Portugal at the end of 2025. Both projects are shortlisted for the MAPIC Awards in the ‘Best Refurbishment Project’ category, with the winner to be announced in Cannes tomorrow.
Johan Caspar Bergenthal, COO of VIA Outlets, said: “Our strategy is to identify high-potential destinations and elevate them through targeted investment, leasing expertise, and operational excellence. In 2026, we integrated our newly acquired centres in Milan and Alicante, opened the Landquart Fashion Outlet expansion, and secured approval for Zweibrücken Fashion Outlet’s next phase, demonstrating our ability to deliver sustainable growth across the portfolio. Our focus remains on creating long-term value for our guests, brand partners, investor APG, and the communities we operate in.”
Last month, VIA Outlets strengthened its financial position with its debut in the Swiss franc bond market: a CHF 170 million, five-year senior unsecured green bond issuance that attracted strong institutional demand and diversifies its funding base. Under its Green Finance Framework, an amount equal to the net proceeds will be allocated to eligible green projects while the added liquidity supports further acquisitions, expansions, and redevelopments.
Also in 2026 VIA Outlets retained its top position in the ‘European Retail’ category of the Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB) annual survey with a score of 97.0/100, earning its seventh consecutive 5-Star rating.
With 13 premium fashion outlets in ten European countries and a robust development pipeline, VIA Outlets will enter 2027 with strong momentum and a clear ambition to shape the future of outlet retail in Europe.
